Camel trekking is big business in Rajasthan, in places like Jaisalmer and Pushkar, which are close to the golden sands of the vast Thar Desert. It is the best way to experience the desert and camel safaris can be arranged from a few hours to a few days. The camel is the only means of transportation in the remote areas of the desert and trekkers will enjoy the peace and quiet under vast star-lit skies. The best time to go is between October and February.
