Airports in Nigeria

Murtala Muhammed International Airport (LOS)

Overview

The primary airport for Nigeria, Murtala Muhammed International Airport is located 14 miles (22.5km) northwest of central Lagos. The airport is made up of two terminals: the newer international terminal is modelled on Amsterdam's award-winning Schipol Airport, although facilities aren't necessarily up to that standard; there are only a few shops and restaurants to choose from, and many of the facilities are old and worn.

Flights to Murtala Muhammed International Airport come in from destinations around the world, including major cities like London, Rome, Cairo, Dubai, Paris, Tripoli, New York, Johannesburg, Frankfurt, Amsterdam, Doha, Houston, Istanbule and Nairobi.

Location

The airport is located 13 miles (22km) northwest of Lagos.

Getting to the city

Larger hotels have a shuttle bus meeting all international flights. Otherwise, taxis are the safest and most efficient way to travel to and from the airport. Aim to negotiate a price of around NGN 5000 for a trip into town.
