The climate of Puerto Rico is tropical, temperatures remaining high at an average of 82ºF (27ºC) all year round. The southern part of the island is slightly hotter than the north, and the interior mountainous region is markedly cooler than the coast. Short, heavy showers of rain occur all year round, and the hurricane season extends from June to November.
