Kingstown port
Overview: The stunning attributes of St Vincent are results of its volcanic heritage. Black sand beaches rim the richly forested mountainous island and the largest city Kingstown which nestles into the base of of tall hills and deep bay.

Part of St Vincent's and Kingstown's charm is an underdevelopment of tourist attractions. There are many things to do and see but the city and scenery emote a rustic unhurried charm lacking in other cruise ports.

St Vincent's cruise port is located a few minutes away from downtown Kingstown. The port can berth two cruise vessels and an attractive cruise ship terminal has many passenger amenities such as gift shop, restaurants, and tourist information centre.

Transport: Kingstown from the cruise terminal is easily walked to as are all parts of the small city. For farther away attractions, taxis wait just outside the cruise terminal. Privately owned vans circle the island and can be flagged down from the roadside. A ferry connects to separate islands. To rent a car, drivers must first purchase a temporary drivers license for EC$50.
Attractions: Kingstown itself is a fun if quick place to discover, especially the central market for fresh produce and several historic churches. Up the hill is an extremely interesting and historic botanical garden with a breadfruit tree given by Captain Bligh. Great scenic views are seen from a drive through Mesopotamia Valley and Queens Drive. Fort Charlotte is also a great climb for views over the city. There are many pristine diving spots all over the coast as well as small secluded beaches.

  • Buccama on the Bay - scenic deck-side Caribbean dining

Best dish: Callalou soup

Shopping: At the corner of Bay and Bedford streets a great lively and colourful market is fun to visit. The cruise ship terminal building also has small shops great for souvenirs although the crafts market on Frenches Street is better.
