Climate

French Polynesia enjoys a tropical climate, which creates hot and humid weather all year round, with an average of about eight hours of sunshine per day over a year. November to April is the hottest period, but for the rest of the year, French Polynesia is usually cooler and drier. The rainy season is ordinarily between late October and the beginning of March, when brief heavy skies can bring rain showers. Rain seldom occurs the rest of the year and the high temperatures are usually tempered by prevailing southeastern trade winds. The temperature averages around 80F (27C) all year and the water temperature is warm, ranging between 79°F and 84°F (26°C and 29°C), meaning that visitors can enjoy good swimming all year round.
