Tobago Scrborough port
Overview:
Tobago is a world apart from the glamour and affluence of other
Caribbean islands. Instead this is where you can find the old world
West Indian character, abundant natural beauty, and laid back
relaxing atmosphere that makes a refreshing change from the
packaged, shopping trips that more structured cruise port
destination can offer. The result is that Tobago is rapidly
increasing in popularity as a cruise destination, and for the first
time visitor numbers exceeded 100,000 in 2008. Two-thirds of the
island is a nature reserve, containing a profusion of wildlife
rivalling the Galapagos Islands for density and variety. A new pier
is currently being built at Scarborough port that will allow larger
cruise ships to berth. For now ships drop anchor in the bay and
passengers are tendered to port in smaller boats.
