The US Virgin Islands have a subtropical climate and experience hot and humid conditions throughout the year, tempered by easterly trade winds. There is very little difference between seasons, though most of the rainfall occurs in September and November. Travel to the US Virgin Islands is most popular from December to May as this is during the winter in the Northern Hemisphere, though it is perhaps best to visit outside of these months because accommodation is far cheaper and the islands are significantly less crowded. Calmer waters prevail between April and August, meaning that underwater visibility is at its best for diving and snorkelling.
