Harare International Airport (HRE)

Overview

Harare International Airport was once a thriving airport with non-stop flights to the UK, Australia and several other countries. Due to political unrest and the economic crisis, there are now few international flights to Harare International Airport, although several airlines still operate flights to major centres in nearby countries such as Johannesburg.

Location

The airport is situated around nine miles (15km) from Harare.

Getting to the city

Taxis and shuttle buses are available to the city centre.

Victoria Falls Airport (VFA)

Location

The airport is situated 13 miles (22km) south of Victoria Falls town.

Getting to the city

There is no public transport from the airport to the nearest town. Visitors are advised to book a driver or hotel transfer prior to landing, or one can hail a taxi or hire a car on arrival.

Joshua Mqabuko Nkomo International Airport (BUQ)

Overview

Bulawayo Airport, which recently underwent renovations, is officially named the Joshua Mqabuko Nkomo International Airport after Joshua Nkomo, the late founder of the Zimbabwe African People's Union.

Location

The airport is about fifteen miles (24km) north of central Bulawayo.

Getting to the city

There are no bus or train services from Bulawayo Airport but you can take a taxi or rent a car to get into town.
