Mobile Regional Airport (MOB)
Overview
A tiny airport serving the capital of Alabama, Mobile Regional Airport is located 12.5 miles (20km) west of central Mobile. The facility has extremely limited service; in fact, direct flights to Mobile Regional Airport are only available from Dallas, Houston, Memphis, Charlotte and Atlanta.
Still, the facility is a busy one, with 50 daily flights carrying more than 600,000 passengers each year. Mobile Regional Airport has basic services and amenities including a couple of restaurants and newsstands; passengers on layovers may find themselves bored enough to spend $10 for a day pass to the Executive Club, which has televisions, complementary newspapers and refreshments.
There are surprisingly few cheap flights to Mobile Regional Airport, as no low-cost carriers operate from the facility, meaning fares to nearby Pensacola Regional Airport are often cheaper.
