Massachusetts has cold winters and moderately warm summers, with cooler temperatures in the Berkshires year round. The coast experiences the warmest temperatures, averaging 74°F (23°C) in July and 30°F (-1°C) in January. Winter snowfall in and around Boston is considerable, with higher levels in the Berkshires.
