Airports in Victoria
Melbourne-Tullamarine Airport (MEL)
Overview
Locally referred to as simply Melbourne Airport, Melbourne-Tullamarine Airport is among the busiest in Australia, processing more than 28 million passengers each year.
Serving the greater Melbourne area of Victoria, Melbourne-Tullamarine Airport has fairly basic facilities for such a busy hub. There are a few shops and restaurants, and extra amenities like shower facilities and a golf course to keep passengers entertained on layovers. The airport is well-run and efficient, but queues are not uncommon at Australia's notoriously strict customs points.
Melbourne-Tullamarine Airport is made up of four terminals: Terminal 1 handles domestic flights from Qantas (and affiliates), Terminal 2 processes international flights, Terminal 3 is used exclusively by Virgin Australia and Regional Express Airlines, and Terminal 4 services flights from Tiger Airways.
Flights to Melbourne-Tullamarine Airport come in from destinations across Asia and Oceania, as well as a few other destinations, including Sydney, Hong Kong, Seoul, Shanghai, Bali, Honolulu, Mauritius, Phuket, Beijing and Abu Dhabi.
