Climate

The climate is generally humid with mild temperatures. Summer temperatures average 80°F (27°C), whereas the coldest month, January, usually experiences an average of 30°F (-1°C). Western Virginia, and the mountains in particular, tends to be colder, with heavy snow in the Appalachians in winter.
