Hi all. I am travelling to KL this July and want to travel north up to thailand. I here the train service is good. Does anyone have any info re. timings price. Or any experiance of anyone who has done a similar thing themselves?

it is pretty good ride to thailand from Malaysia..
it can take a couple of days from KL to Bangkok..
A ride in Malaysian train is much nicer than that in Thailand.

Kuala Lumpur-Hatyai bound trains would cost about approx. RM50.00 above.Malaysian Train with about a day and a half ride from Kl to Hadyai.
Hatyai-Bangkok bound trains would cost approximately 800 Baht or above.Thai train with about 18 hours ride.

there's also another option whereas you take KL-Butterworth and then Butterwoth-Bangkok.That means no transit in Hadyai.

as for comfort,preferably u buy 1st class since it's a long ride and the air-conditioning is really cold at night so dont forget your sweater.
