I am going to Bulgaria with my son this summer, both on US passports. I know we do not need visas, but visitors should be prepared to show proof of valid medical insurance upon request. My question is, what kind of medical insurance do I need for this? Will my regular US insurance suffice, with the insurance card as a proof? Or does it have to be a special international insurance? Again, what qualifies as a proof?
