Do you need any vaccinations or inoculations for Ecuador? I will spend about 4 weeks there, plenty of time in rural areas and mountains. Do I need any malaria pills? And is it worth taking water purification tabs or is the water ok to drink generally?

Hi,

Yes, you will need inoculations for Ecuador. Best thing to do is to contact your local doctor or travel clinic who will provide you with up-to-date information regarding which inoculations to have, as well as prescribing Malaria tablets.

The tap water in Ecuador is not safe to drink, however, you can buy bottled water almost anywhere. If you are going to extremely remote places where bottled water is not available, then it would be a good idea to take the water purification tablets.
