Have the entry requirements changed recently for South Africans going into the UK? I heard that South Africans now need a visa?!

Yes, United Kingdom has announced that all South African visitors would in future require visas.
The visiting visa will cost £65, or about R990, while a transit visa will cost £45, which is equivalent to R680.

The move, to be implemented in stages from March, follows an official UK warning to the South African government six months ago to tighten up on issues including control of passports.

From March 3, South African passport holders would require a visa in order to visit or transit the UK.

However, until mid-2009, South Africans who had previously travelled to the UK on their current passport would be exempt from the requirement.

Visas are currently required only for other categories of entrants, including students and people working in the UK.

Note that until mid-2009, South Africans who had previously travelled to the UK on their current passport are exempt from the requirement.

Over 420,000 South Africans will be effected! REsulting in the loss of over R4 billion to the economy paid directly into Britain's coffers!
