What do you mean: how much will you need per day? If so what currency, and what standard of travel to you want to go for.

A similar Q was asked here before - do a search on the forum under India.

A travel budget for India can range from as little as $10 for backpacker level, to $1000 for movie star standards. I don't think $70 is unreasonable if you want good quality accommodation, restaurant food, and a taxi driver to get you from A to B.

I backpacked through India w/my partner for a month in June. We spent no more than $50 each day for the 2 of us. We stayed in cheap, but clean accommodation with AC or water coolers, ate only indian cuisine but in clean restaurants (for the most part) traveled large distances via public transport but locally with rickshaws and taxis.

I think it depends on your budget then knowing what would be the average budget. Also it depends where one would be going:Delhi can be expensive then going towards south and north: If one takes train then it would be cheaper then taking the flight:but then train journeys in India are longer then other countries: being an Indian I can guide you only if one can update about the places one wish to go .Other faires, which includes transport, food ,reaturants and all can vary from 10 dollar or euro to 100.Also during off season one can get cheaper rate then the on season: Frankly speaking prices can be drastically high and low: but yes its quite cheaper if one can adjust with decent hotel and places: otherwise India is famous for hotels which can not be beaten in the world: including 3,5 and 7 stars hotels.

Budget is in your hand but do not think India is very Cheap. It was cheap, not any more. everything become quite expensive. Hotels, Car, Flight but you can manage it if you go ahead with a Planning.

I am travelling to Nthn India in December with a small group that includes basic but well tried accomodation but meals are not included. What should I expect to pay for good average meals in the main cities?
