Scotland by Train - BRITRAIL??
  • Hi,
I am visiting Scotland in July 2013. I was planning for TRAIN travels between my destinations - such as between London - Glasgow - Fort William - Mallaig - Isle of Skye - Inverness - Edinburgh. Do Visitors to the UK have to have a BRITRAIL pass or similar??
I checked the websites: www.scotrail.co.uk/content/fares-and-tickets#uk-visitors,uk-visitors and www.nationalrail.co.uk/. They have mentioned BRITRAIL passes somewhere? Is that really compulsory? Does that have any advantage over getting a direct ticket?
    Thanks
  • It is not compulsory for visitors to have a rail pass. You can buy tickets when and how you please.
