Trip to Easter Island – accommodation and how long is long enough?
  • I'm doing a trip through South America and while I'm in Chile I'm considering heading to Easter Island, but no one seems to know anything baout getting there or accommodation?? Where does one stay and what kinds of accommodations can be found there; hostels, backpackers, hotels???

How long is long enough to get a good taste for things and what else is there to explore while you're there?
Any advice, experiences, stories, etc will be greatly appreciated.

    Many thanks
  • Hi,

There is loads of information on Lonely Planet's website, including where to stay, what to see, etc. You probably need about 4 or 5 days for it to be worthwhile:

Flights to easter island depart form Santiago on LAN airlines. Their website is: www.lan.com

Here are two links to view information about tours to Easter Island:

  • Hi, I was in Easter Island in late July. I spent 5 days and nights with 5 friends and it was great. I think we were there the perfect amount of time, we did just about everything there was to do and it didn't feel as if we lagged either. We stayed in cabanas which were relatively affordable and flew in on LAN. the price will be a lot less if you book through LAN.cl and not LAN.com
