Passport Expiration and St. Lucia

    My daughter will be traveling to St. Lucia in early January. Her passport expires at the end of May 2010. I heard that you may need a passport that does not expire for at least six months to leave the country. Is this true for any place you go? Should she get a new passport now or will they let her use her current one? Also, how long does it take to get a renewed passport these days?

    if you are Canadian or American the passport expire appears not to be a prom. best to check with yr nearby consulate

    I am not sure if this person referred to below is referring to a US passport or a Canadian passport but they need to check on their end about the timeline – from the St. Lucian end once they complete their travel before the passport expires it is fine from our end.

    I'd rather be safe than sorry, it's going to expire in six months anyway, I would just go to the nearest Passport office and pay for a new one. That way you don't have to worry about it and it's off your to do list. You have plenty of time now to renew without worrying about not receiving it in time. Don't put it off.

    We are going to St Lucia next Friday. I checked with the St Lucia High Commission in London and they said that you do need 6 months on passport. You can get passport renewals easily and quickly now and the new one will run up to 10 years after expiry of the old one so no loss of time. Get a new passport!
