Criminal record: entry into Greece?
  • Is there a restriction on travel to Greece if I have a criminal record. It is over 10 years old and was as the result of an assault where somone got injured.
  • Wes - if you have a valid passport, and have the necessary visa (Schengen possibly) then you will no problems entering Greece. Domestic offences are not recorded on your passport unless it relates to international travel or crimes across national borders such as drug smuggling. When you travel overseas your passport literally represents you: so if your passport is valid, so are you...
  • Note that different requirements apply if you want a student, work or residential visa. Then you need a letter from your embassy saying you have no criminal record. But as a tourist, your record is not relevant.
