It’s the spring time. My first trip in this year. I started from Ziyuan, a small county in the northern part of Guilin. I was overwhelmed by a sense of calm on the way to that county. The rain and fog make the villages in the valley with a feeling of mysterious and tranquil. Everywhere is green and crystal. The air is so fresh.It was raining lightly. And the fog covered those little villages. It’s just like in the fairy tells. I almost forgot where I was...what I was doing...I just was. It was so serene. The next morning, we went back to the county. The early morning market was fantastic. People sales vegetable, like bamboo root, potatoes, and some I have never seen and I can’t tell its name. People call it “Juecai”. It’s the special local vegetable in Ziyuan. They are also made into powder to cook a kind of sticky cake. It’s not in good looking, but it’s quite delicious. And we bought so much.

The life here is so peaceful. Completely flat agricultural landscapes with the odd tower of rock protruding up skywards. People do farming in the mid-hills. The water buffalo enjoy everyday of their life. There is something about Guilin's countryside that is just mesmerizing. The people are so friendly and generous. I am always shocked at how beautiful Guilin's countryside is. And Ziyuan is a beautiful place you cannot miss.
