Republic of Georgia: safe to visit?

Anyone visited the Republic of Georgia in the last year? How safe is it for tourists? Are there any issues with woman travellers feeling safe or getting harassed?

I know that one must avoid the separatist territories of South Ossetia, Abkhazia and the upper Kodori Valley but I have never heard of travel in Georgia being a problem for women... Apparently the people are famously hospitable and kind. Please advise if it is a dangerous country for women to travel to as I am considering visiting with another female friend.
