requirement to acquire a visit visa

hi i'm a Filipina and my boyfriend is living in New Mexico USA. As of the moment i'm here in the Philippnes but I'll be living for the UK next year.I heard that to be able to get a visit visa to the US one has to have a fat bank account, is that true? what are our options?
