Dollars accepted in Myanmar

    I have heard in Myanmar the US currency accepted should be printed in the year 2008 and beyond. They do not accept US dollar that is printed prior to 2008. Is this true?

    It is obviously not true as US dollars has got weak this season.

    Most countries in SE Asia will not accept old style US Dollars. When the US announced the new style money, counterfeiters dumped their old style bills and the banks stopped accepting any old style bills in response.

    It is best to travel with new bills, preferably of the newest multi-color style, avoid old tattered or torn bills.
