The beautifully preserved medieval town is renowned as the birthplace of ‘Dracula’, or Vlad The Impaler. The old town is characterised by narrow cobbled streets and steep alleyways, brightly-painted tiny lopsided houses, ancient churches, stone archways and covered stairways.
