Canoe races photo

Canoe racing is among the most colourful events one could watch on Senegalese shores. The brightly painted, specially designed pirogues are usually named after a patron saint who provides spiritual protection. Villages compete against each other; teams consist of between six to 36 men and the event draws large and very excited crowds.
