Skiathos Climate and Weather

Skiathos enjoys hot, dry summers and mild winters. Temperatures in July and August average from 82F (28C) during the day to 72F (22C) at night, though hotter temperatures are common. Rainfall is unlikely in summer but showers can be expected between September and May. Skiathos has an almost typically Mediterranean climate but, like all of the northern Sporadic Islands, it's subject to a strong wind blowing from the north. Popular beaches are on the sheltered southern sides. Sea temperature is lovely and warm from July through to September, but gets a little chilly during May and sometimes June. Though May is usually a great time to visit, this slight chilliness may be off-putting. The best time to visit is September, when the water is still warm and crowds are light. Summer remains the most popular time to visit Skiathos.
