Airports in Auckland

Auckland International Airport (AKL)

New Zealand's primary airport, Auckland International Airport serves more than 13 million passengers each year and is the main gateway to the remote island nation. Locally known as Mangere Airport, the facility is located 13 miles (21km) south of Auckland's city centre.

One of the busiest airports in Australasia, Auckland International Airport has consistently won awards for its efficient service and good infrastructure, providing a good first and last impression of New Zealand to international visitors. The airport received a massive upgrade in 2005, and was again given a facelift for the 2011 Rugby World Cup.

The airport is situated 13 miles (21km) south of Auckland.
