Airports in Kuwait

Kuwait International Airport (KWI)

Located 9.5 miles (15.5km) south of Kuwait City, Kuwait International Airport has a single terminal that serves over eight million passengers each year. The facility does not have the grandeur of the airports in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, but is still home to a gigantic shopping mall, with many popular retailers and an array of dining options. Interested passengers can also visit the Kuwait Airport Museum once through customs.

The cavernous facility is unfortunately known for long queues, as the airport is currently operating at capacity. A second terminal is under construction though, and when it opens (scheduled for 2021) they estimate an improved capacity of nearly 25 million passengers per year. Flights to Kuwait International Airport come in from destinations around Europe, the Middle East, and Asia, with select routes to North America.

The airport is situated 12.5 miles (20km) from Kuwait City.
